My name is Kjetil Smedal and I am a Norwegian artist and furniture maker.
I work with wood and other materials I let interact with it. Inspired by the traditions of Scandinavian craftsmanship yet always on the lookout for techniques, concepts and ideas evolving from our modern world, what I do is not limited to form or function. I try to capture the essence of making, the grounded beauty in process itself, transforming materials into timeless objects. And also I just really like to make things. Our physical ability to create and mental ability to be creative and have fun is what encourages me to work the way I do.
